WELCOMING THE NEW PRESIDENT
It is with great honor and excitement that I step into the role of President at Clark County Food Bank during a pivotal and meaningful time for this organization. During the past eight years, I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside you - donors, volunteers, nonprofit partners, and an extraordinary staff and board team. I look forward to co-creating the future of Clark County Food Bank as we pilot and innovate new programs that alleviate hunger and its root causes in our community.
Leading this organization is not only a tremendous privilege, but also a deeply personal one. Building community has always been a high value of mine. Working for a nonprofit that can create real and lasting change is a lifelong dream come true. The time I have spent at Clark County Food Bank has only expanded my passion for serving our neighbors, and has prepared me to lead the food bank into a bold new chapter of growth and transformation. My husband, Jack, our two young children, Amias and Solomon, along with our sweet senior dog Bentley, look forward to deepening our roots in the community for many years.
Reflecting on Clark County, I am continually inspired by the unwavering compassion and resilience that I bear witness to daily. This community refuses to let anyone fall through the cracks. We know that addressing hunger requires more than meeting immediate needs—it demands bold, innovative solutions to tackle food insecurity at its roots. Together, we will continue to grow our efforts in farming & gleaning, nutrition education, food distribution, financial wellness, workforce development, and more. We will drive lasting change and empower families.
While I am excited about the possibilities ahead, what inspires me most, is the opportunity to learn from you. I want to hear your stories, understand your connection to the food bank, and dream with you about how we can serve our neighbors in new and transformative ways. I invite you to reach out—by email, phone, or in person. Let’s connect, collaborate, and create something extraordinary.
This is our moment to rise to the challenges ahead and work together to build a stronger, more resilient community. I look forward to learning from you, leading with you, and building a brighter future for all.
Kindly,
Emily Straw
