AMBASSADORS: OUT IN THE COMMUNITY
The Clark County Food Bank Ambassador team has once again been busy this summer throughout Clark County! The Ambassador volunteer program began in the Summer of 2023 as a way to reach out to our community with resources and information. Ambassadors commit to representing Clark County Food Bank at events for a 4-month period of time and attend training sessions in preparation to share the work and impact of our organization. Events range from client services to community events to city partnerships. Each opportunity to show up, connect with our community, and share about the food access network or volunteer opportunities opens doors to conversations, connections, and care. We are incredibly grateful for this team broadening our message and mission in our community! Want to join our Ambassador team? Email volunteer@clarkcountyfoodbank.org for more details. The next training opportunity is September 2024!
VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Therese Brodie joined the Ambassador team in January 2024 after having volunteered with the School Pantry mobile food distribution team for several months. After attending the spring training, Therese dove right in. She attended a number of events, and quickly found her niche at events that directly serve the unhoused population of Vancouver. “The visitors at these outreach events receive information that can directly address specific needs for themselves or acquaintances. We also share information about Clark County Food bank programs with other agencies that they might use to benefit the needs of those that they represent,” shares Therese. This summer, as an invitation to take part in the City of Vancouver’s Community Court program was shared, Therese quickly responded. Community Court is a multi-agency response to support connecting unhoused individuals with resources. In the first year of the program 42% of participants ‘graduated’ with a higher percentage moving into a housing situation throughout their participation in the program. “Clark County Food Bank gives anyone interested in volunteering a chance to be part of a wonderful, supportive team that works well together. It offers programs that provide solutions to the challenges we face as a community. Volunteering is a fun and rewarding experience,” Therese stated. We are proud to connect with our community in meaningful ways through the support of Ambassadors like Therese!
